Let the Celebrations commence....
Has it really been a year since Dundee and Tayside threw open it’s arms and welcomed the first ever Festival of House?
Who can forget the magical anticipation, excitement and sheer madness that proceeded, then totally engulfed, what was easily the best Rhumba party ever?
We took acid house revelry, mischief and snake hipping tomfoolery to the next level.... turning the whole of the City smiley and creating an infectious party atmosphere totally unique to the Rhumba.... created by the Rhumbateers and delivered in big, yellow smiley sacks to anyone and everyone who wanted to be involved…. and now we are back, to do it all again.... and MORE!!
We once again call on all you Rhumbateers, Acid Housers, Party People and Naughty Children of the Night to join us, get involved, spread the word, raise the flags and scream if you wanna go faster…. The Rhumba’s Festival of House Returns and this is going to be one helluva ride....
So what do we have in our Festival of House bag of tricks for 2014?
Well, you already know that the party is going to happen over the weekend of the 10th – 12th October.... the date should firmly be in the diary, babysitters booked, hotels arranged and holidays taken – no excuses will be accepted for absence!
For 2014, we decided to take all the highlights from 2013 and simply make it bigger and better.
The Rhumba has never been about following fashion, or sticking to stringent musical genres, nor pigeon holing ourselves in any dark house music corner.... we have always been about creating the best party possible, with fantastic, passionate party people and providing a soundtrack and musical landscape that reflects the differing tastes of all who want to fill and shake our dancefloors.
And in 2014 we believe that the Rhumba has delivered exactly this….
With 3 nights of the finest DJs…. across 3 venues in Dundee City.... delivering what is truly another amazing Festival of House....
On Friday 10th October, the launch of Festival of House begins with a very exciting Launch Party, featuring one of house music’s true pioneers, fore-fathers and an acid house legend - A Guy Called Gerald.
On the Friday, and in collaboration with “A Night With....", Festival of House opens with:
A Guy Called Gerald
Dicky Trisco (Autodisco)
Is Kill (Book Club)
A Guy Called Gerald has been responsible for delivering a plethora of amazing music over his extensive career, crossing many electronic genres, respected throughout the world and is one of a few individuals who can truly be classed as ground breaking. Expect a night of magical, musical pleasure.... anyone for Voodoo Ray?
On Saturday 11th October, the party will step up to fever pitch in the build up to The Festival of House Main Event.... it’s the big yellow, smiley one.... think last year and apply supersize.... and in true Rhumba style, we have stuck to our Balearic roots to bring you a collection of DJ’s who will offer quality, divergence and a choice that is so rare to find under one roof these days.... so over 6 rooms, we will offer:
James Zabiela
Foals (DJ set)
Marshall Jefferson
Joey Beltram
Jeremy Olander
Friendly Fires (DJ set)
Slam
Horse Meat Disco
Dave Seaman
Farley Jackmaster Funk
Danny Rampling

For us, this ticks all the boxes that the Rhumba stands for, pulling from the past, the present and the future.... with all points on the electronica compass covered and crucially, the underlying quality required to deliver another legendary Rhumba party is all in place.
As always, this all-star line-up will be supported by the very best in local talent, who will all be given the opportunity to shine over the weekend, making the Festival of House once again the landmark event on our clubbing calendar, turning this into a true festival experience. Step forward….
