/// PENDER STREET STEPPERS ///
(VANCOUVER / MOOD HUT / PPU)
Pender Street Steppers is Jack Jutson and Liam Butler of Vancouver, Canada. After just a pinch of attention from tastemaking DJs over in the UK, their collective and label Mood Hut has shot to the forefront of attention: coming up in end-of-year lists everywhere, they've continued to put out quality dance music in a laid-back fashion.
Their own releases on Mood Hut and cosmic-boogie-godhead People's Potential Unlimited navigate a space between all the groovy genres of the past, and they draw on the same inimitable aesthetic for their DJ sets - easing you through forgotten gems of disco and soul and the reams of unreleased material from their own camp.
We're really excited to have them in Cambridge as a part of their tour of Europe to bring you three hours of dancing pleasure.
Under his own name Jack J produced what to many was THE record of last year, the lovely "Looking Forward To You" - which if you haven't heard, have a listen:

and you can catch a glimpse of the pair in action at über-festival Dekmantel last year

or in their recent mix for Resident Advisor, full of unreleased goodies.

/// MDNGHT RECORDS TAKEOVER ///
w/ VIERS, DON FOUND & SOUNDBWOY KILLAH
Based in Leeds, MDNGHT records is the project of Don Found. With just one 12" release and a quality podcast series, they've established a sound at the forefront of UK club music: bringing the hard 4/4 of modern techno together with the rich history of bass music in the UK, from 2-step garage to grime and dubstep.
On Friday 13th, we're bringing label head Don Found and associates Viers and Soundbwoy Killah to take over King's Bunker for the night.

/// SOUNDBWOY KILLAH ///
(Bodyjack)
Breakbeat enthusiast Soundbwoy Killah (if you hadn't guessed from the name) has just released a split 12" with Bodyjack - though he might be most well known for an infamous mashup of two recent anthems that did the rounds last year...

CHIMERA
Varsity: ★★★★
"The music was fantastic throughout the night, the dance floors remained heaving in every room. ... The live bands gave each room a distinct atmosphere and balanced the equally successful DJ sets."

The Tab: ★★★★★
"...this truly was a remarkable night. Apart from the chill out room, the night was flawless, and the extremely high calibre of musical variety and talent showcased exactly what the Cambridge nightlife scene is missing."
