Over the past few years, Lobster Theremin has seized the dance music zeitgeist. Jimmy Asquith’s DIY label, based around a close group of friends, has risen in much the same way that L.I.E.S. exploded out of a Brooklyn bedsit five years ago. Now expanded to a record shop in London Fields, the Lobster logo has become an ever-present on London dancefloors, while their release catalogue, from the likes of Route 8, LUZ1E and Minimal Violence, has spearheaded the loose, fuzzy, retro-futuristic musical aesthetic that a new wave of producers now emulate.
