Party: SLED ISLAND

TUNIC

Winnipeg has long been a haven for abrasive outsider mu-sic, starting in the ‘80s with Personality Crisis. Since then, countless bands have left a trail of crushed beer cans and blown amps in their wake as they crawl from their jam spac-es to venues across Canada. tunic’s own brand of noisy punk is informed by their modern, Canadian punk contemporar-ies (White Lung, Nü Sensae), but amps up the darkness and despair to the nihilistic end of the world.

PREPARED

This project consists entirely of local hardcore veterans and is fronted by the renowned Kevin Stebner. The aggressive emotive sound features occasionally disjointed vocal shouts and is fuelled by technical, high-charged drum lines that are well-matched with busy guitar work loaded with explosive melody.

STEPMOTHERS

With only a handful of tracks stretching to the three-minute mark, this band is a powder keg waiting to go off from the moment the first chord is struck. Bouncy, immediate rock 'n’ roll chock full of pick slides and epic choruses, you’ll be left with the most worthwhile hangover of your life.

BULLSHIT HARDCORE BAND

Proudly proffering Sled Island’s most tattoo-worthy mono-gram, BHB is the perfect proxy when you’re hankering for a bit of the ultra-violence. Habitually deadlocked with danger, these amp-blowin’ vandals are complete professionals when it comes to yelling back at the TV and holding it down like the punk silverbacks they are.
