Unique to Redcliffe and open to the general public, this service was designed as a tribute to the lives of fallen Diggers from the local area. It is traditionally held on the Sunday before Anzac Day each year.
It is a celebration of people’s lives and it is not a sombre occasion. It is a day we pay homage and honour those who lost their lives during conflict, or as a result of their injuries.
Flags are placed on the graves the day before by Cadet units and members of local ex-service organisations. During the service on Sunday we stop to remove the flags and replace them with poppies.
At Redcliffe Cemetery there are over 700 ex-service graves that we attend to.
This is a great way to pay our respects, and we hope to see you there.
